Popping up in Piccadilly

August 29, 2013

Have you come across Pop Up Britain yet? The idea behind it is to give emerging British brands the opportunity to get their products onto the British high street - and not just any old high street.  With pop ups on the Kings Road, Victoria and Piccadilly, we're talking prime retail space.

Along with 9 other newbie brands, we pitched up at the Piccadilly shop just moments from the tube, providing a nice steady supply of punters.  We had a great week and met some great people, and thought we really ought to introduce some of them to you...

Meet Emma, the fantastically talented designer behind Emma J Shipley scarves.  Created from her intricate and unique pencil drawings which are printed onto the finest Italian fabrics, each scarf really is a piece of art.  That you can wear.  Total luxe.  Available online at emmajshipley.com as well as from an impressive selection of stockists including Liberty, Harvey Nichols (Knightsbridge) and Fenwick.

And then there was Holly, who's quirky, colourful artwork is inspired by her favourite things - London, Kew gardens, birds and flowers to name but a few.  My favourites have to be her wild flowers still life and map of the world - I love the use of colour and the level of thought and detail that so obviously goes into each and every piece. Her artwork would certainly cheer up any living space - the full collection is available online here www.hollyfrancesca.co.uk. I have a feeling my wedding present dilemmas are sorted for a while....

And finally, one for the boys.  David established Swig in February this year, producing and selling high quality hip flasks.  They're each uniquely coded (your pass to the Swig society!) with handmade leather pouches as a great added extra.  The leather is sourced from London's Brick Lane, hand cut and stitched.  Brothers, boyfriends, husbands rejoice! You're not getting socks for Crimbo this year...
