On the market.
November 29, 2012
We are lucky enough to be situated in a beautiful market town in the heart of Somerset. Twice a week, the traders come and set up their stalls in the square overlooked by the entrance to the Bishops Palace, the 800 year old building that houses the resident Bishop of Bath and Wells.
There seems to be a trend amongst the market traders to offer food, it has grown from a regular gift/craft/clothes market to really focus on food stalls. There is a such a huge variety of beautiful foods, from local cheeses, fresh local meats, organic veg, homemade cakes; as well as Italian dishes to take away, sushi and Thai to sample and one of my favourites, loads of fresh olives.
We had a wander through this week and took some photos......the rich colours of the veg are so inspiring.... the dark green, the rich deep purple, I can imagine these working well as a leather palette for the collection....
