Style to Inspire
October 22, 2014
When it comes to fashion blogs to inspire and introduce great new clothes and styling ideas, we are spoilt for choice but there are a few favourites that we wanted to share with you. Each of them has a unique and individual style that we love and that reflects the Seven Boot Lane aesthetic beautifully. They are all amazingly talented women with very different blog styles, from gorgeous illustrations to exquisite photography to useful style advice. These three blogs are a must read.
Not a fan of heels? Then you will be a fan of this blog, En Brogue, which discusses all things flat footwear related. The blog was founded and is written by Hannah Rochell, features editor at InStyle magazine. She writes of her love of flat shoes, and provides inspiration and advice about how to style her chosen favourites from day to night. Hannah also recently brought out a book, ‘En Brogue: Love fashion, love shoes. Hate heels’ which is a flat shoe bible, covering everything from tasselled brogues to chunky boots and filled with her unique, beautiful watercolour illustrations. She even created one for us of our Bayarm boots above which is now hanging proudly on our office wall.
Stylonylon is written by Julia Rebaudo, a freelance writer in her 30s with a keen eye for style. It offers readers a bit of everything, from fashion and lifestyle, to food and travel; and she accompanies every post with beautiful photography. Julia is an Olympus ambassador and uses lots of different cameras and lenses to create the different effects throughout her blog. She even offers a ‘beginners guide’ to photography to help readers create their own shots.
What we love:
Beautiful photography and photo styling // Great sense of style // An aspirational lifestyle
School Gate style is a brilliant blog for everyone wanting practical style solutions for a busy life. Avril Keys writes the blog as a fashion diary with advice and inspiration of how to buy on a budget and style old pieces with new buys. Her annual feature ‘Old Favourites’ for example, shows her styling clothing that is a year or more old with one new piece which updates the look and makes it relevant today. It's a great place for busy mums to get style tips that work from someone who has tried and tested them.
What we love:
Everyday style, which everyone can wear with confidence // Practical advice with a really useful ‘Shop my look’ section // Honest, personal reviews of products
What are your favourite fashion blogs to go to for inspiration and advice? We would love to know what you think of these three we've recommended too if you didn't already know them.
