The style of the moment: The slip-on skate trainer

March 16, 2016

The trend of practical luxury has been emerging ever since Lily Allen brought it to the forefront with her signature style of day dresses and trainers around 2006. The style then got the high-fashion nod of approval, when Karl Lagerfeld paired each of his Chanel looks for the SS14 show with trainers.

Over the past few seasons we have seen sports-inspired styling become an essential ingredient of luxury fashion. Everyone from Givenchy to Chanel has acknowledged sports-luxe as a trend that’s here to stay. At Seven Boot Lane we tread our own path, offering an enduring take on the trends that will stand the test of time.

We have given the skate trainer the Seven Boot Lane treatment with our signature handwriting, using contrasting materials and western pattern detailing. Our ‘Flame’ trainers are available in 4 different colours.  With cushioned leather linings and flexible trainer outsoles they are perfect for wearing all day long.

If you are new to the trainer trend, start subtle with a pair of our black leather trainers with tan trim and white sole. Fashion blogger Avril Keys, says that, ‘Having bought (and replaced due to wear and tear) 2 black pairs like this over the past couple of years, I've realised that Flame is a style that's timeless’.

Wear with tailored, slim-fit trousers and pencil skirts for the office and frayed hem jeans or wide legged trousers for an off-duty style.

Trainers can say a lot about a person, so if you’re a little adventurous but like to keep things neutral, these are the shoes for you. We are re-stocking this style in early April, sign up for a re-stock notification here.

Take a leaf out of blogger Zoe De Pass’ book and team with a rolled hem jumpsuit or dungarees. Or wear them with pride around the office and pair with black leather skirts and cropped tailored trousers.

Indulge your inner magpie and get your claws into a pair of the cracked metallic leather style.

Either go minimal and pair back your outfit to let them shine, or have a bit of fun and wear with frilly ankle socks and rolled boyfriend jeans.

Ideal for brightening up those dark winter outfits. The lightly perforated suede is contrasted with a patent leather detail on the heel.

Pair the sand suede trainer with tailored grey trousers for a smart, yet practical working style (see Victoria Beckham’s style at NYFW). As the weather warms up, wear with ripped light denim and plain white tees for a breezy summer style.

Already a blogger favourite, our flame trainer has been worn by Avril of School Gate StyleZoe of Dress Like a Mum and Amanda of The Online Stylist.
